Our Adaptation
Based in the territory of the New California Republic, the Settlement of Filly recently experienced a conflict between the primary residents (survivors/cowboys) and a group of do-good Vault Dwellers from Vault 33 who tried to impose themselves to “rebuild” America.
The play begins with Richard (a ghoul-like character based on "Walton Goggins meets Laurence Olivier") shot-gunning two Vault Dwellers who were on their way to the Settlement.
Richard the Ghoul laments the peacetime in this western town, and plots to become “The King”.
Richard’s brother “The King” Edward is sickly. Richard frames his other brother Clarence George who is sent to The Tower.
As Anne, a surviving Vault Dweller, grieves her dead father (the Overseer) who was killed by Richard, Richard makes his move and marries her.
King Edward’s wife Elizabeth and her ex and sons gossip about Richard. Richard plots to turn their gossip against them.
Mama Margaret (the dead Overseer’s junked-up mother) prophesizes that everyone will die.
Richard sends his bounty hunters to finally kill Clarence George, who is eaten by a Venus Fly Trap.
Richard pretends that he is super nice, and that everyone else is super untrustworthy. “The King” Edward finally dies of radiation sickness.
Richard and his pal Buckingham plot on how to prevent King Edward & Elizabeth’s young children from taking the throne.
Meanwhile, Richard arranges to have the rest of Elizabeth’s allies killed, and arranges to have Elizabeth’s young children stowed away in The Tower.
Richard sends his messenger Catesby to test Hastings’ allegiance, who was loyal to King Edward.
Richard has his henchman Ratcliffe kill Elizabeth’s kin by firing squad.
Ratcliffe also kills Hastings by chopping off his head.
Richard and Buckingham make themselves look like Hastings’ death was justified.
Duchess (Richard’s hateful mom) and Elizabeth call on the Brotherhood of Steel to depose Richard.
Richard is crowned The King after showing the Mayor his piousness.
Richard hires a bounty hunter to blow up the two princes in The Tower because Buckingham refuses to do it.
Richard decides that Anne needs to die. So she surreptitiously falls off a bridge.
Buckingham starts to rally a raider army against Richard.
Richard decides he is going to marry his cousin, Elizabeth’s daughter, much to the disgust of Elizabeth. Richard learns that while Buckingham’s Raider army dissipated, the Brotherhood are mobilizing at his walls.
Richard has Ratcliffe kill Buckingham by a shot to the head.
The Brotherhood’s Paladin Richmond prepares his troops.
Richard prepares his.
Richard is haunted by the ghosts of everyone he killed, who condemn him, while they encourage Paladin Richmond.
A big battle ensues between Richard’s loyal cowboys and the Brotherhood. Richard is slain and buried under a parking lot.
So endeth the play.
